Met Through Friends
PROJECT DETAILS
The Client
Client project for Sydney based company 'Met Through Friends' that creates events catered for single people to meet.
The Challenge
The client wanted a solution to attract more men to the events as they were not attending and wanted to know why. We discussed a path that entails a long term solution that refocuses on the community aspect of the service to create less pressure when attending dating events.
Role
UX Designer (research, interaction design, visual design)
Length of Project
2 weeks | 2 Team members
Approach
I conducted the second round of interviews that was through MTF established database to get an idea of what brought them through MTF and what attracted them to attending these events. I identified the pains and needs of the users through usability testing around even interest levels. Created paper wireframes to test concepts that confirmed our assumptions on what people wanted for events.
Then developed an interactive prototype on Figma for presenting along with insights and recommendations.

The client wanted a solution to attract more men to the events as they were not attending and wanted to know why. We discussed a path that entails a long term solution that refocuses on the community aspect of the service to create less pressure when attending dating events.
What's the problem?

Problem statement -
Not enough men are attending the events at MTF which caused cancellation & refund of customer's money -

Initial Insights from Round 1 of interviews people said that..

No access to a person
of the opposite sex

+

Feel uncomfortable asking someone, so they end up not going

Not willing to spend
more to go alone

Not many find the
events appealing
People might go online to find someone which defeats the purpose

Not many drink; would
like more engaging events

MEN ARE APATHETIC
ABOUT THE LOCATION WHEN THEY'RE OUT WITH SOMEONE

THEY CARE ABOUT THE PERSON THEY ARE WITH
Main issues found were

Spend more money to go alone; which made them look & feel desperate

Not enough men are attending the events

Tickets create limitations where you have to bring someone single + opp. sex

Some people struggle to find friends of the opposite sex

Lack of diversity in the events
Solutions presented from first meeting with client

She chose to go with this solution

ProtoPersonas gathered from the interviews

High Level personas

Current target audience for Met Through Friends
